Sunday after we did birthday walkabout with the dogs, we came back up the Kanc to Bear Notch and took Rob Brook Road. We have done this before, on cross bikes, but this time we hung a right and went UP the hill towards Sawer Pond.
Incredible double track the whole way. The climb was at times 20% on meadow grass double track. Fabulous. Most of the way was snowmobile trails but at the top we diverged and headed north-west on the FR towards the pond. We only turned around when I felt we were too close to the danger point – that is, weather, exposure, injury and a six mile walk / cary out of there would be problematic.

The drop back down to the road was worth every crank to get up there.
