I got shut down by snow trying to get a ride in on Bear Notch.

It was windy and 43 with spitting snow – I was hopeful but when I saw more than 100 yards to walk – it was turn around time. It would have been possible on a fat bike, but not going to happen on the road bike.

I parked at the covered bridge – past the nasty section of 112 from 16 to that point.

Just as I pulled on to the Kanc, I did so in front of a rider I had noticed on the drive in. They passed without a word and there would be no catching them.

The data, plots and maps – are from RubiTrack – with data from Cyclometer. I still wish Ascent were not abandoned, but this is a great setup if you want to use your phone.

This is early season riding up here. Heck, they are still skiing at Wildcat. It is perhaps the last ‘off’ season. The crowds were down. The parking at Champney however, was spillover onto 112. Lots of boaters in the swift, though the water was not all that high for the season.

Perhaps another visit next week.

If you made it this far, perhaps the whole virtual tour then;
