Friday was winter. Cold.  Saturday I was shoveling snow in a tee shirt. 47 degrees in rain and snow showers. Today? Cold. Windy. Like mid winter. Only the smile that the warm sun provides this time of year showed otherwise.

We did boulder loop with Murphy. His longest hike yet. There were few people out – and the trail was crunchy cold underfoot, the wind was brisk and the temperatures were in the mid teens. In spots, the windchill combined with the swirling snow was as bracing as anything we have done all winter.

Murphy had a blast. What a trooper.

As I write this the wind is howling, the house is creaking but the sun is warm through the windows. I can lift my eyes above the screen of my laptop and see where we were this morning.
