Not much, but we got out. Did boulder loop. It was still hot today – I think the high was 92 or 93. There was a nice breeze at the summit but it was still hot out there.

On the way back to mitten stock we hit up Lowes – done that every single day now – and got some parts to re-build the main floor toilet. That was fun. The grounds have been cleaned up more – the new dog / porch retention system has been installed as well as a new solar skylight deflector system.

We had dinner on the deck – sweet. The heat broke and the breeze was up. Nice night out there – even as I write this. We walked down to the pond – then back up, past the house to the top of the hill. Man. We live on some kind of steep hill here. But what views.

The hot July wind rustles the leaves outside my window. Echo’s of music fill the gaps from inside the warm glow of our new home as the last lights fade from this wonderful day.

One week from today we will be at RDC, just a 30 mile drive or around 18 miles or so as the crow flies. Funny enough to go on vacation sixty miles from where you live, but to then go on vacation 18 miles from your vacation home. Still, RDC is RDC and there is something special about that.

As we were walking on boulder loop today I remarked to my partner that it was still less than a year since we re-rolled into this hiking lifestyle. Less than a year later we own MittenStock, and have a mountain retreat. It was 29 years ago we met, not far from this very place, we joined forces and made a life. That life has now taken us full turn back to where it al began. I NEVER would have imagined ANY of this.

Fate? Luck? Fortune?

P.S.
Turned out to be a nice night sky.
